Musicianship

I began formal violin instruction in sixth grade orchestra and was involved in community youth orchestras throughout high school. Throughout my time at JMU I have been able to participate in many different ensembles, and have a variety of performance opportunities which have allowed to to grow as a musician. Through taking methods courses, I have become familiar with techniques for instruments in the woodwind and brass families which have helped me be more well rounded as a musician and have prepared me to instruct other instrument families.

I designed this hypothetical lesson for potential use in the classroom. My goal with this lesson would be for students to play a scale on the strong beats with a rhythmic accompaniment playing subdivisions.
